Curriculum
Mount Union Area School District (MUASD) offers a curriculum aligned to the PA Core Standards in English Language Arts and Mathematics and aligned to the PA Academic Standards in other subject areas. MUASD continues to address the instructional shifts necessitated by the revised standards. The shifts in English Language Arts include an emphasis on increased reading of informational texts and a growth in text complexity, text-based answers, and academic vocabulary. This also includes literacy instruction in the other content areas. In Mathematics, the standards call for a deeper focus on mathematical coherence, fluency, understanding, and application.
The district has begun the process of mapping all of its curriculum through the utilization of CHALK. This platform allows for collaboration across grade levels, content areas, and from building-to-building to ensure a K-12 smooth articulation.
